Beginner’s Guide to KCD 2: 10 Useful Tips

Running around and just swinging your sword in KCD 2 is not the best way to get through the game. It’s all about strategy, attentiveness and survival in the harsh realities of the Middle Ages. If you haven’t been to the Kingdom of Bohemia yet or have forgotten what it’s like to be Indřich (aka Henry), the tips below may be useful and will help you avoid unnecessary deaths.

How not to die in the first hours of the game?

Before you set off on your journey, it is worth learning a few key points that will help you not to die from hunger, fatigue, enemy sword or… your own irrational behavior.

1. Repair your gear – don’t wait for everything to fall apart

Weapons and armor wear out, and if you don’t keep an eye on their condition, one day in battle your sword will simply break.
There are two repair options:

  • Give things to a specialist (blacksmith, tailor, armorer). This is quick, but expensive.
  • Use repair kits (e.g. weapon smithing kit). This is cheaper, but requires skill pumping.

2. Hunger and fatigue – do not drive yourself to exhaustion

You will have to take care not only of fights and adventures, but also of basic needs: food and sleep. Hunger can be satisfied in many ways: food can be bought, cooked, stolen or hunted.

But don’t forget that food spoils, and rotten meat can send you to a better world faster than a mercenary’s sword.
Sleep is another important mechanic.

You can only sleep in your own bed or the one you paid for. Sometimes you’ll be able to find a secluded spot, but you may be disturbed there. As a last resort, there is always a radical method: kill the owner of the bed and occupy it. But the consequences, to put it mildly, may not be very pleasant.

3. Bird’s nests are a small treasure trove

The world of the game is full of nests where you can find useful items such as money, jewelry and even rare items. To knock down a nest, don’t waste arrows – just throw a rock.

4. Trespassing on someone else’s territory – caution is paramount

If you see a blue “Private Territory” icon, you shouldn’t be there if you don’t want problems. A red icon means that you can be attacked without talking. However, if you have a high level of eloquence, you can persuade the guards to turn a blind eye to your presence. Or you can try to pay them off if things get out of hand.

5. Want to be invisible? Dress properly!

If you’re going to engage in theft, espionage, or stealthy assassinations, forget about ringing armor. The quieter the clothing, the easier it will be for you to sneak around and remain undetected. The game has an outfit change mechanic, so prepare several outfit options in advance.
By the way, you will need a dagger for stealthy kills. Without it, no stealthy elimination of enemies will not work.

6. Keep clean – dirt can ruin your life

If you think that washing is a purely aesthetic thing, it’s not so in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. People judge you on your appearance, and if you’re covered in blood and dirt, you may be shunned, or worse, mistaken for a criminal. A full bathhouse can be found in towns, but if you don’t have one on hand, look for water barrels. They will help wash away the blood and dirt so that people around you don’t shun you like a leper.

7. Tricks of the trade: always bargain!

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance II you can undercut prices when buying and overcharge when selling. Success depends on your reputation and level of haggling.

But be careful when selling stolen goods: not every merchant is willing to risk his head. For this kind of business, look for stolen goods dealers.

8. Herbs: money and useful potions

You will encounter a lot of herbs that can be used in alchemy, cooking or simply sold. At the beginning of the game, selling herbs is a good way to earn money.

Bonus: if you carry a lot of herbs with you, you can get power boosts.

9. Battles in the game are not just “click-click-win”

If you think that victory in KCD2 depends on the speed of clicking buttons, we have bad news. Parrying, directional choice, stamina, and the psychology of combat are all important here. For example, you can shout threats to break your opponent’s spirit.

To become a master of the sword, be sure to train with mentors. There are special NPCs in the game that will help you master the combat system and give you the opportunity to practice without the risk of dying.

Don’t forget about tactics:

  • Don’t rush into a crowd of enemies – it’s better to fight in narrow passages so they attack one by one.
  • Use terrain – archery from a height is much more effective than fighting surrounded.
  • Watch your stamina – if it runs out, even the weakest enemy will turn you into a pile of meat.

10. The save system – don’t lose progress!

Death in KCD2 can come suddenly, and autosaves only happen during key events.

Here’s how you can save the game:

  • Sleep in your own or a paid bed.
  • Quit the game (Save & Quit).
  • Use the “Saving Schnapps”, a rare and valuable item that allows you to save the game anywhere.

Don’t forget to save before difficult battles and risky moments!

KCD 2 is a game where every choice has consequences and thoughtless actions can lead to disaster. To survive and succeed, remember the most important thing:

  • Cleanliness affects NPC attitudes
  • Hunger and fatigue are real mechanics that should not be forgotten about
  • Trespassing in restricted areas is fraught with consequences
  • Stealth requires the right equipment
  • Battles are difficult but learnable through practice
  • Equipment requires repair
  • Bargaining is profitable.
  • Nests and herbs are a source of income and useful items.
  • The save system does not forgive forgetfulness.

Follow these tips, and then your journey through 15th century Bohemia will be not only with fewer deaths, but also with much more fun!
