Kingdom Come: Deliverance series has always been famous for its realism and complexity. However, for those who are looking for real medieval hardcore, the developers of Warhorse Studios prepared a special mode that makes the game even more severe and authentic.
Hardcore Mode has already gained popularity among fans of the first installment, and now it is returning in KCD 2. Although the mode will not be available at the time of release, the developers have promised to release it as a free update shortly after the game’s release.
What is the difference between normal game mode and Hardcore Mode?
The main goal of Hardcore Mode is to remove convenient game mechanics and make every decision essential to survival.
What will change in the game?
- No more fast travel. You’ll have to travel on foot or on horseback, navigating the terrain.
- No player marker on the map. Now you have to memorize locations, navigate roads, rivers and other objects, as in real life.
- Minimal interface. You will remove some of the HUD-elements, such as health and stamina indicators.
- Complicated combat. Opponents will become more dangerous, and the timings of blocks and counterattacks – tougher.
- Harder to make money. Merchants will give less money for goods sold, and equipment prices will increase.
Each of these mechanics makes the game much harder, but also closer to reality.
Preparing for hardcore mode
If you’re planning to play through KCD2 on Hardcore Mode, you should adapt to the new environment beforehand.
- Study the map and memorize landmarks. Without a marker on the map, it’s important to understand where key locations are.
- Prepare for tough battles. Enemies will be more deadly, so practice your swordsmanship skills beforehand.
- Save money. In hardcore the economy will be tougher, and buying good equipment will require much more effort.
- Use the daytime wisely. At night it’s harder to navigate and the risk of running into enemies increases.
- Travel with a supply of food and gear. Without fast travel, it’s important not to go without provisions away from cities.
Who is this mode for?
Hardcore Mode is perfect for experienced players who are past the standard version of KCD2 and want a new level of challenge. It will also appeal to those who like realistic survival simulations and are not afraid of a challenge.
This mode will make you look at the game in a new way:
- Every battle will become deadly.
- Every journey requires preparation.
- Every mistake can cost a life.
If you like challenging RPGs without the conveniences, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II’s hardcore mode is a great way to test your medieval survival skills.
