In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 the equipment repair system became even more important than in the first part. If you don’t keep an eye on the condition of weapons and armor, their characteristics will deteriorate, and when completely worn out, the item can lose quality forever. In this article, we will understand how to effectively repair equipment, what tools are needed for this and what perks will help to prolong the life of your combat arsenal.

Why is repair so important?

Every weapon and piece of armor has its own durability reserve. Over time, through fighting, traveling, and even sloppy handling, they lose durability. If the durability drops to zero, the item will not just become useless – it can lose some of its characteristics forever. This is especially critical for rare or expensive items.

In addition, the condition of armor and clothing affects the reaction of others. Dirty and shabby appearance reduces your charisma, worsening the results of negotiations and deals with merchants.

How do I repair weapons and armor?

There are two ways to repair weapons and armor in the game: by yourself using repair kits or by paying blacksmiths and other craftsmen.

1. Using repair kits

Depending on the type of equipment you have, you will need different tools:

  • Blacksmith’s Kit – for repairing swords, axes, and other edged weapons.
  • Armorer’s Kit – for repairing armor and metal armor.
  • Tailor’s Kit – for repairing cloth, clothing and light armor.
  • Cobbler’s Kit – for repairing shoes.

Each kit has a durability reserve. With each repair its condition deteriorates, and when it falls to zero, the kit will become useless and will have to be replaced.

To repair a thing, just open the inventory, select the desired item and use the appropriate repair kit. The higher your Craftsmanship skill, the more effective the repair will be.

2. Repairs from blacksmiths and craftsmen

If your skill isn’t high enough or you don’t want to waste repair kits, you can turn to blacksmiths, armorers, tailors and shoemakers. They will repair your gear for a fee, but with a little trickery you can reduce the price.

Tip: Frequent repairs from the same craftsman increases your reputation with him, which lowers the price. You can also haggle to bring down the price.

Important repair perks

To make the repair process easier and cheaper, there are special skills in the game:

  • Handyman” – if you repair equipment from a blacksmith, armor maker or tailor, you get experience in the craft.
  • Do It Yourself” – equipment repaired by yourself will wear out 10% slower.
  • Master Armorer” – armor repaired by yourself makes less noise, which is useful for stealthy characters.
  • Seven-League Boots” – If you repair boots yourself, running will use 25% less stamina.
  • Razor Sharp” – if you sharpen a weapon on the sharpening stone to 98% or higher, it will get a +10% bonus to damage.

Sharpening Stone – proper sharpening of weapons

Blade weapon sharpening now has different levels of effectiveness. The higher the sharpening level, the more damage the weapon deals.

When working with a sharpening stone, you need to keep an eye on the color of the sparks:

  • White sparks – perfect sharpening.
  • Yellow sparks – normal sharpening.
  • Black smoke – improper sharpening, which spoils the blade.

If done correctly, the weapon will be in perfect condition and its price will increase when sold.

The repair system in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 requires more attention. But at the same time it allows you to save money and even improve the characteristics of equipment. If you keep an eye on the condition of your equipment, choose the right perks and regularly use sharpening stone, your hero will always be ready for battle.
